Lava River

Since 2023, there have been nine eruptions on Iceland’s Reykjanes peninsula. Like many people around the world, I have followed these eruptions with great interest, staying up late to watch the live feeds of lava fountaining up over 600 feet from rifts stretching more than three miles long.

Some of the best footage was captured by Icelandic photographer and drone pilot Ísak Finnbogason. Whether his live feeds or his beautifully edited videos, his work is excellent, his images are striking, and has been a major inspiration for my work.
