IceLandScape

Moss, Sand, Rocks (study), 16 in x 21 in, 2025

I am inspired by the landscapes of Iceland and the Nordic countries.
My work attempts to capture the sensual textures and experiences of lava and moss, mountains and ice, rivers and shorelines of the sometimes stark and always beautiful panoramas of Iceland. Many of these landscapes were experienced during my many road trips around Iceland, as well as what I have seen in images and videos.

I do not rely on the usual techniques of maintaining an even gauge to create a fabric. My work is improvisational. No pattern is created, no charts are made, no stitches are counted. Icelandic wool is paired with silk, mohair and alpaca.

Some of my pieces are posted below. I hope you enjoy my work.
